The Armstrong Duct & Vent Cleaning Process
Our 14 Step Air Duct Cleaning Process
At Armstrong Duct & Vent, we understand the importance of maintaining a clean and efficient HVAC system. Over time, dust, allergens, and contaminants build up in your ductwork, reducing air quality and system efficiency. That’s why we’ve developed a meticulous, industry-leading duct cleaning process to ensure your home receives the highest level of service. Our expert technicians use advanced tools and techniques to thoroughly clean your duct system, improving the air you breathe and enhancing your HVAC performance.
So, how do we go about our work?
1. Setup: The vacuum and compressed air equipment are set up outside the home, positioned for direct connection to your HVAC system. Drop cloths and plastic sheaths are used to protect floors and wall corners.
2. Pre-Inspection: Before starting, our technician cycles your HVAC system’s power to ensure proper function. Any issues are reported immediately.
3. Access Points: Holes (12″x12″) are cut into the main trunk ductwork for vacuum hose attachment.
4. Vacuum Setup: The vacuum hose is connected to the supply trunk line, creating suction throughout the system.
5. Register Blocking: All registers are blocked with duct mask, leaving one open at a time to focus suction on each vent.
6. Equipment Activation: All duct cleaning equipment is turned on.
7. Supply Vent Cleaning: Each supply vent is air-washed (175 PSI) and mechanically brushed, ensuring contaminants are moved into the main trunk line for removal.
8. Return Vent Cleaning: Steps 4 through 7 are repeated for the return ductwork.
9. Trunk Line Cleaning: The trunk line is cleaned using mechanical brushes, air whips, and air washing. Additional access holes are created every 15 to 20 feet to ensure a thorough clean.
10. HVAC Unit Cleaning: The blower area, fan blades, evaporator coil, and condensate pan are cleaned to improve efficiency and prevent microbial growth.
11. Reassembly & Filter Inspection: The system is reassembled, and filters are inspected or replaced as needed.
12. Sealing & Insulation: All access openings are sealed with 24-gauge sheet metal panels, ensuring airtight seals with acrylic metal tape or mastic sealant.
13. System Testing: The HVAC system is test-fired, and the technician ensures proper cycling.
14. Final Cleanup & Inspection: The work area is cleaned, equipment is removed, and the only thing left behind is fresh, clean air.
